How the boundary works: regulated work is performed by the regulated professional under their own licence — not by 1205. 1205 does not provide legal, tax, or immigration advice and does not issue or guarantee any certification. When a matter needs a licensed specialist, we route it and stay in our lane.

  • An Ontario employer needs an independent workplace investigation.

  • An employer needs an AODA evidence file before a senior officer certifies.
  • A company entering Canada needs operating capability built, not just advice.

We route out when

  • The client needs legal advice, representation, or a termination decision — that goes to counsel.
  • The matter needs tax, accounting, or immigration advice — that goes to a CPA or RCIC.
  • A certification must be issued — that goes to the accredited body or licensed specialist.
  • There is a conflict, or anything that could be perceived as one.

Regulated-professional boundary

Where a matter requires a licence — legal advice, tax, immigration, or issuing a certification — the regulated professional performs that work under their own standing and name. 1205 does not provide those services and does not hold itself out as able to. We coordinate; they certify, advise, or represent.

Conflict boundary

We run a conflict check before accepting a referral. If 1205 — or a bench partner we would assign — has a conflict, or anything a reasonable person could perceive as one, we decline or route elsewhere. For independent investigations, the investigation is kept separate from any remediation, subject to a fresh conflict review.
